A pharmacy has called the corner of NW 21st and Glisan home since 1892. The current building went up in 1926, and the beloved Nob Hill Pharmacy was family-owned and operated from 1933 until it closed in 2005. But this wasn’t just your average corner drugstore — it was a Hollywood moment waiting to happen. In 1989, Gus Van Sant chose it as the opening scene for Drugstore Cowboy, and that iconic security mirror? It still hangs in the exact same spot, keeping a watchful eye over our top-shelf prescriptions.

After a brief life as an all-night coffee shop and a sports bar, Brian and Michelle took over in 2019 with one simple vision: a place where everybody belongs. They’ve remodeled the space (twice, because good things are worth the effort), added a cozy lounge, and put bar tops along the windows so you can sip something cold and watch NW Portland do its thing.

Today, The Pharmacy is your neighborhood hub for drag brunch, bingo nights, trivia, retro gaming, and pinball — all fueled by killer cocktails and damn good food. We’re more than a bar — we’re a community and NW Portland’s cure for whatever ails you.

So pull up a stool. Bring your dog. Wear your pride. Good food, drinks, and friends are waiting.

The Pharmacy — Cures for what ails you.
